The Phobians and the Porcupine Warriors are hoping to catch up with the Miners at the top of the table in week seven of the local topflight

With Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko breathing down their neck on the table, Ashanti Gold know too well how bad a second successive defeat in the Ghana Premier League would be.

The Miners saw their lead cut to three on Wednesday following a 1-0 loss at Liberty Professionals.

And as the topflight enters matchday seven this weekend, there is everything to play for, as the two 'big boys' could just shoot themselves into pole position to take over the top spot.

In Cape Coast, Ashgold are set for a stern battle with reigning champions Aduana Stars on Sunday. It is undoubtedly the match of the weekend as the Fire Boys are in an amazing form, having scored 16 goals in their last three games in all competitions.

There are, however, doubts about the game, as Aduana could be excused from league action this weekend to concentrate on next week's Caf Confederation Cup clash with Fosa Juniors of Madagascar.

Kotoko will play as guests to Dreams FC in Dawu, while Hearts face seventh-placed Elmina Sharks in one of two games slated for Saturday.

Medeama, on same number of points as Hearts and Kotoko, come up against Inter Allies, who occupy the fifth position on the table, in Saturday's other fixture.

Following their surprising home defeat in midweek, Wafa have ambitions of making amends when they play away to debutants Eleven Wonders. The Academy Boys hold the 11th position, while the new boys sit three places below.

Liberty, meanwhile, have eyes set on making it two wins on the bounce in their trip to Ebusua Dwarfs, who sit second from bottom on the log.

In Kumasi, Berekum Chelsea and Bechem United will square off against each other. The Blues, with a game in hand, sit bottom of the table, while the Hunters place ninth.

At the Malik Jabir Park, 2015-16 champions Wa All Stars have a date with newly-promoted Karela United. Thirteenth on the log, All Stars could jump into the top 10 with three points, whereas a win could get Karela into the top four.
