Football Kenya Federation CEO Robert Muthomi laughed off at Nakumatt FC assistant coach fete achieved with the team in the month of May.
Mwangi, who was Nakumatt head coach before American Melis Medo was elevated to that position, was crowned the FKF Coach of the month on Monday after guiding the Shoppers to three victories in the month of May.
The 33-year-old tactician picked 10 points with Nakumatt in May, the best run for the Shoppers so far this season, which also pushed them off the base to mid-table.
The performance saw Mwangi finish ahead of Sofapaka tactician John Baraza who lost out to Mwangi on (superior) goal count.
But Muthomi laughed off the rare achievement that also saw Nakumatt become the first club to have won both the coach and player awards in the same month after Boniface Mukhekhe was crowned player of the Month last week.
“Coach of the month then replaced the next month hehehe...fill the blanks,” Muthomi laughed off Mwangi’s fete in a Twitter response.
“Only we know that it was someone else behind the scenes,” added the FKF employee.
Nakumatt will next take on Tusker in a league match.
