EXTRA TIME: Mamelodi Sundowns' Vilakazi throwback from his childhood soccer dreams

Being out injured has offered Vilakazi time to reflect on the past, and that's exactly what he's done on social media.

The Sundowns attacking midfielder started playing the game at the tender age of 11.

It all began with street football in Meadowlands and then he was signed by local Soweto club, Meadowlands Chelsea... but, wait for it... he was a goalkeeper back then.

That's one of many examples of how youth players transform their game by the time they turn pro.

At 24 he was already the captain of Bidvest Wits and a key member of Bafana Bafana.

This year an injury has slowed Vilakazi down a little, but he has a chance of cementing his place after the departure of Keagan Dolly to Montpellier.
