Former Gor Mahia defender Musa Mohammed has signed for Zambian club Nkana FC.

Goal can exclusively reveal that Mohammed has penned a two-year contract to sign for the club after staying out of active football for two months.

“We are pleased to confirm the signing of one of the best players in Africa. Musa has quality that will be needed to drive the team forward and want to take this opportunity to welcome him to Nkana,” the club said in a statement.

The 26-year-old and former K'Ogalo captain, was a free agent after his contract was terminated by Albanian club FK Tirana in April. Kabwe Warriors was another team in Zambia that was keen to sign the player, who played for Gor Mahia for close to nine seasons.

Mohammed captained Gor Mahia to two Kenyan Premier League titles, a domestic cup and the Super Cup victory in 2017. He also led Harambee Stars to victory at Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup held in Kenya in 2017.

He was Kenya’s captain during the team’s recent tour of India, where Kenya finished second, behind the hosts and ahead of New Zealand and Chinese Taipei at the Hero International Cup.
