The People’s Elephant skipper has warned his teammates that they must remain level headed as they await their next round opponents

Enyimba skipper, Mfon Udoh has charged his teammates to remain cautious as they await their quarter-final opponents in the Caf Confederation Cup on Monday in Cairo, Egypt.

The People’s Elephant qualified as winners in Group C after a last-gasp 1-0 home win against CARA Brazzaville of Congo last Wednesday at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba and their opponents for the last eight fixtures will be revealed on Monday at the CAF headquarters in Egypt.

Speaking after their hard-fought win against the Congolese, Udoh disclosed that it was important for him and his teammates not to be carried away by their result with CARA but concentrate on thinking about their next duel which will soon be revealed.

He said the euphoria that came with their win over CARA should be forgotten so that it will enable them to maximally concentrate on their next opponents in the competition.

“I give God the glory that we were able to win our last game. The win has given us another lifeline to remain in the competition,” Udoh told Goal.

“We worked hard for it and we were happy that it turned out well for us against CARA. But the win has left us with a huge task to overcome to remain in the competition. We need to be very cautious and shift all our attention to our next game.

“The competition is now at a stage that so many things will get involved for us to move to the next round. We must not allow anything to stop or distract us. We must forget about the game with CARA and remain fully focused on our quarter-final quest.

“I believe we have the players that can take us to the semi-final and even more but we need to show the right attitude. All the remaining teams are difficult to face but we will be happy to face any of them knowing that we have equal chances of progressing to the last four against them.”

The former Akwa United attacker is yet to break his goal duck in the competition this term after a disappointing spell with an injury which left him out of action for about nine points.

He confirmed that he has regained match fitness and that he is gradually getting back his confidence that made him a terror to defenders.

“I tried my best to score against CARA but I guess I needed to do more,” he continued.

“I won’t relax until I am back to my best and the way I played showed that I am close to that. It was not easy for me to stay out of action for that long but I am not letting that to bother me at all.

“I am confident that the true Mfon Udoh is back and that in the next few games I will start scoring again.”
