El-Said happy to score winner against Uganda

Egypt midfielder Abdallah El-Said has expressed his delight at scoring against Uganda in their 1-0 win at the Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday but was keen to stress the team's commitment to qualify to the quarterfinals as they face Ghana in the last group game.

The Al Ahly star came from the bench to replace Tarek Hamed and powered his side into victory, sending in a powerful shot beyond the reach of goalkeeper Denis Onyango on 89th minute.

“I’m happy for scoring against Uganda and getting the Man of the Match award, but I’m even happier that we won the game,” El-Said said.

“The victory is more important because it has given us confidence that we can qualify from the group to the quarterfinals. We need just a draw or win against Ghana and make it out with them since they've already qualified” he added.

Despite coach Hector Cuper starting him from the bench, El-Said insists he respects any decision from the former Inter Milan boss.

“It’s the coach’s decision and I’m a professional player. I try to help the team whenever I can.”

Mali will eye a win over Uganda in the last group game and hope Ghana do them a favour by defeating Egypt before they can qualify to the quarterfinals.
