Lamine Kone has joined RC Strasbourg on a season-long loan deal from Sunderland until June 2019.

The 29-year old agreed to a deal that would keep him until 2020 with the League One outfit on January 27, 2016 for an undisclosed fee from Lorient.

However, a delayed transfer saga which had broken on two occasions saw Les Merlus threaten Jack Ross’ side with legal action, following the latter’s initial pull out of the deal.

The club, which currently plays in the third-tier of English football announced the temporary exit of the Cote d'Ivoire international on their twitter handle.

"Lamine Kone has joined RC Strasbourg on a season-long loan," the club tweeted.

At the Stadium of Light, he made 69 appearances with three goals in his two-year spell with the Black Cats.
