Conte's classy message to Ryan Mason after serious head injury at Chelsea

Antonio Conte was quick to send a message to Hull City midfielder Ryan Mason after he was sent to hospital after a clash of heads with Chelsea's Gary Cahill, as the Blues ran out 2-0 winners at Stamford Bridge.

Mason was stretchered off in an eight minute stoppage and replaced by David Meyler in the 21st minute as the fourth official was forced to add on nine added minutes in the first half.

Diego Costa and Gary Cahill's goals defeated Marco Silva's side in a hard fought match, but there are still concerns over Mason's condition, with Conte wishing the former Tottenham man a speedy recovery.

"First of all, everyone at Chelsea wants to wish [Mason] the best," Conte said at the news conference. "It was a bad accident with Gary. After the first half, it wasn't really good with Gary, but we decided to continue with him.

"It was very bad, this accident. Everyone at Chelsea hopes to see [Mason] recovered and on the pitch very soon.”

Hull boss Silva didn't have an update on his midfielder's condition as he came out to meet the press following the defeat, but did say that his doctor confirmed that he went to hospital after leaving the pitch. 

“I imagine in this moment that he will stay in hospital. I hope nothing special, nothing serious, but we'll see." Silva said. "I don't know [if he is awake]. He doctor told me he was in the hospital and we await news.”

Mason adds to Hull's injury problems, which includes the likes of Will Keane, Markus Henriksen, Alex Bruce and Greg Luer, while Dieumerci Mbokani and Ahmed Elmohamady are playing at the Africa Cup of Nations.
