The Blues host the Gunners in the first leg of the semi-final and they will be hoping to beat them for the first time this season

Chelsea and Arsenal lock horns once again as they look to strike the first blow in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester City already have one foot in the final having beaten Bristol City 2-1 in the first leg of the other semi-final and the London clubs will be doing everything in their power to follow suit.

The Gunners suffered a shock elimination from the FA Cup after losing 4-2 to Nottingham Forest in the third round at the weekend, so the game has taken on even greater significance for them.

It will be the fourth competitive meeting between the sides this season and Chelsea will be determined to record a victory, having drawn twice and lost once to Arsene Wenger's men.

GAME PREVIEW

Alex Iwobi N'Golo Kante Arsenal Chelsea

Seven points may separate Chelsea and Arsenal in the Premier League table, but there has been very little between them in meetings they've had this season.

They have drawn twice in the league, while the only win - Arsenal's Community Shield triumph at the start of the season - came via penalties after an intense 120-minute deadlock.

Both sides are ostensibly out of the race for the league title, so the Carabao Cup represents an excellent opportunity to clinch a trophy, but the tie is probably more important for the Gunners.

Having been unceremoniously dumped out of the FA Cup by Nottingham Forest, the Gunners only have two avenues to collect silverware: the Europa League and this competition.

While the Blues can arguably afford to miss out on this particular trophy, they will, nonetheless, be eager to succeed and close another path to glory on their rivals.
