The Champions League returns this week after an action-packed Easter weekend saw five of the eight teams win domestically.
Attention turns to continental matters now, though, and bet365 make Barca firm favourites to net more times than anyone else when they host the Italians on Wednesday night.
Barca and Bayern favourites
The Blaugrana are just 6/4 (2.50) to score more than any other club in the first leg of the quarter-finals, which hardly comes as a surprise considering their visitors have not kept an away Champions League clean sheet since 2007. Also, the last time the two met at the Camp Nou it ended 6-1 to the home side.
On top of that, Messi and Co. have scored in 24 of their last 25 homes matches in the competition, netting 75 times in the same span, which dates back to May 2013. Roma’s massive 33/1 (34.0) price reflects their status as tournament outsiders.
Bayern Munich are 7/2 (4.50) in the same market, and although they face a tough trip to a Sevilla side that has four clean sheets in their last seven at home, the Germans will be buoyed by their 6-0 thrashing of Dortmund at the weekend.
The Spanish side are out at 16/1 (17.0), which is hardly a shock considering they have scored just seven goals in their last six home matches.
The sides produced 12 goals in their two league meetings this season and have found the net a stunning 163 times in their 63 combined matches in the league, more than any other pair of Premier League teams.
It is also worth noting the hosts have scored 28 times in the Champions League this term, more than any other side, whilst Pep Guardiola’s men have 19.
As well, that showpiece in Cardiff last May was only the first time in eight meetings that either team had netted more than twice against the other.
