Cameroon star Stephane Mbia confirms League 1 return to Toulouse

The former Marseille and Sevilla midfielder spent the last two seasons in the Chinese Super League with Hebei Fortune but is now a free agent

The ex-Cameroon captain Stephane Mbia has announced that he will join French League 1 side Toulouse in the next few days.

After terminating his contract with Chinese Super League outfit Hebei Fortune in March following a two-year spell, Mbia’s next move has been a subject of speculation.

A move to English Premier League side Burnley had been touted as most likely.

But with the Premier League transfer window now closed, Mbia himself took to Instagram to announce that he is set to join Toulouse.

“Very happy and proud to announce my signature in the coming days at Toulouse FC. It is with great joy that I will return to League 1,” posted Mbia.

The French club are however yet to confirm the imminet deal with the Cameroonian.

The move to Toulouse sees Mbia return to the French top-flight league following previous stints with Rennes and Marseille.
