The Mashemeji Derby, that has been postponed twice so far, will be staged in the capital with the two of Kenya’s biggest clubs set to square it out on July 22.
There had been conflicting information about the possible venue for the derby with hosts AFC Leopards wanting to host the game at Bukhungu Stadium. But KPL CEO Jack Oguda has now confirmed that the game, the biggest in the Kenyan Premier League calendar, will be staged in Nairobi.
“We have settled on Kasarani to host the derby on July 22. We will provide enough security and are urging fans from both teams to turn out in large numbers,” Oguda told Goal.
Gor Mahia are currently top of the table with 49 points while Ingwe are four places and 15 points behind the leaders.
