Speaking to the media on Monday, Motaung says he would love to have Baxter back at the club, but admits the experienced coach is contracted elsewhere

Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung says they will hire a top quality coach ahead of the new 2018/19 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season.

The Amakhosi boss was addressing the media during the Shell Helix Cup press conference on Monday, saying it has been difficult to find the right man for the job.

Although they have been linked with Free State Stars’ Luc Eymael and recently Stuart Baxter, who is in charge of the national team, Motaung shed the light on the two coaches.

He said they have not engaged Eymael, who has been quoted in the media as saying he was contacted by the Chiefs.

Moreover, reports emerged last week that Chiefs were courting Baxter to return to the club, but the South African Football Association (Safa) came out to rubbish the talks as just pure rumours.

Apart from the two coaches, French manager Patrice Carteron was reportedly the main target, but opted to sign with Al Ahly in Egypt and ex-Ghana coach Avram Grant is reportedly considering joining Panathianikos in Greece.

In their quest to challenge for trophies next season, the Glamour Boys have already signed striker Khama Billiat from Mamelodi Sundowns, goalkeeper Virgil Vries from Baroka FC and Letlhogonolo Mirwa as well as Andriamirado Andrianarimanana from Madagascar.

However, the cub is yet to make a decision on the coach to replace Steve Komphela, who resigned in April 2018.

Speaking to the media, Motaung revealed the complications of hiring an experienced top coach and also expressed his desire to have the Bafana manager back at Naturena.

"We actually brought in some quality coaches, unfortunately, the competition is stiff three of the coaches we have interviewed have been snatched we have got one or two more coaches we are finalising with, hopefully soon once the preseason starts we want to have our coach,” said Motaung.

“Luc Eymael... we have never spoken to him I must be clear. Stuart has been linked with us. He’s a high-quality coach, high-level coach if he’s available," said Motaung.

“I would love to have him definitely back with the team as people know that he is a high-level coach and he understands the squad. He will be hitting the ground running if it happens, but unfortunately he is with Safa now. He is a Safa coach," concluded the football manager.
