Manchester United's Europa League campaign continues with a testing trip to face Rostov in the last 16 of the competition. Jose Mourinho's side were left frustrated after being held to a draw by 10-man AFC Bournemouth at the weekend and the men from Manchester will be determined to get back to winning ways in a competition where they are 2/1 (3.0) favourites in the outright market.

Rostov, though, will undoubtedly provide a tough test; Ivan Daniliants' side may not boast much of a pedigree - this is their first foray into the knockout stages of European competition - but the Russians pose a real danger, particularly on home turf.

Indeed, Rostov claimed a famous 3-2 win at home against Bayern Munich in the group stages of the Champions League and, although Daniliants' side failed to reach the last 16 of that competition, the victory against Carlo Ancelotti's men proved pivotal in edging out PSV Eindhoven for a place in the Europa League.

Rostov, too, claimed a thumping 4-0 win against Sparta Prague in the home leg of the previous round of this competition and the Russians, who smashed six past Tom Tomsk in the league on Friday evening, can be backed at 4/1 (5.0) to establish a first leg lead against Mourinho's side.

The men from Manchester, though, have kept more clean sheets than any other team in the competition thus far - five, including in each of their last four fixtures - and it is from that solid defensive base that United will hope to build in this tie.

Mourinho's side can be backed at 3/4 (1.75) to seize the initiative in the tie by recording victory in Russia, while the same firm go 5/2 (3.50) that the match remains all square at the end of 90 minutes.

Manchester United have kept a clean sheet in six of their last nine matches in all competitions and the odds compilers offer 8/5 (2.60) that the visitors win to nil, while the same firm offer 8/13 (1.62) that fewer than three goals are scored - a selection that would have paid dividends in four of United's last five away fixtures in this competition.

Rostov are in fine form in front of goal, having hit 16 goals in their last five games, while Manchester United have scored in all but one of their last 28 fixtures in all competitions.

Betfair Sportsbook offer just 4/6 (1.67) that both teams are on target on Thursday and United should have few problems up front given Zlatan Ibrahimovic is permitted to compete in this competition, unlike their upcoming FA Cup and Premier League clashes.

Better value, therefore, may lie in backing more than two goals to be scored when these teams lock horns; the selection would have landed in five of Rostov's six home fixtures in European competition so far this season and the 5/4 (2.25) quote for the trend to continue could offer a solid option for punters.
