Betting: Luis Enrique favourite to replace Antonio Conte at Chelsea

Back-to-back Premier League defeats have seen Antonio Conte's priced slashed to 1/4 (1.25) to be the next top-flight manager to leave his position.

Betfair have also priced up a list of potential candidates to succeed the Italian at Stamford Bridge and the market is led by Luis Enrique, who has been installed as 3/1 (4.0) favourite.

Reports in Spain suggest that the former Barcelona boss is the number one target should the Blues part company with Conte, who has cut a frustrated figure on the touchline in the last few months while the players have been given extra time off this week. However, Chelsea correspondent Naz Kinsella has reported that the former Barca boss is unlikely to cut short his year away from football for any position.

With a top four spot far from secure and the FA Cup and Champions League still possibilities in terms of potential trophies, any new manager would need to hit the ground running and galvanise a squad that has looked woefully short of confidence and discipline in their recent displays.

Carlo Ancelotti is another high-profile candidate who would be available immediately. The 58-year-old won 67 of his 109 matches in charge during his previous two-year spell in charge at Stamford Bridge and is priced at 8/1 (9.0) to make a return to south west London.

Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri is a 10/1 (11.0) chance to replace Conte. The Serie A club are apparently keen to extend their manager's current deal to head off such an approach but until such an agreement is in place, he would surely be on any shortlist drawn up by the reigning Premier League champions.

Should Chelsea wish to opt for a short-term appointment, then Guus Hiddink's price of 10/1 (11.0) looks much too big. Having taken on just such a role twice before, and been a very popular choice with the players during his previous spells at Stamford Bridge, the Dutchman could be a tempting option to steady the ship until the end of the current campaign.

Betfair's rules state that any interim or caretaker manager will be settled as the winner of this market if he takes charge of 10 competitive games. With 12 Premier League fixtures, plus their involvement in the FA Cup and Champions League, there is more than enough scope for Hiddink to be a viable selection if the Blues opt to wait until the summer to appoint a long-term successor.

Marco Silva is also priced at 10/1 (11.0) by Betfair but it seems unlikely that his departure from Watford will have enhanced his prospects for such a testing role.

Joachim Low has been linked with the Real Madrid job in recent weeks and he's 14/1 (15.0) to take over at Chelsea, as are both Thomas Tuchel and Diego Simeone, albeit the former seems unlikely to leave Atletico Madrid at this stage of the campaign, if at all.
