Betting: England 8/1 to win Euro 2020 after World Cup defeat to Croatia

Gareth Southgate's side lost out in extra time but the bookies have been impressed with what they've seen in Russia from a youthful Three Lions squad

It wasn't to be for England at the 2018 World Cup but bet365 have cut the Three Lions from 11/1 (12.0) to 8/1 (9.0) in their latest Euro 2020 outright winner odds.

With such a youthful squad taking part in Russia, there is clearly a hope that Wednesday's semi-final defeat won't be the last time that this group of players contest the latter stages of a major tournament.

There are plenty of big names ahead of England in the betting though, albeit many of them failed to produce this summer with one notable exception.

France can be crowned world champions for the second time in their history on Sunday and currently lead the Euro 2020 betting at 4/1 (5.0). That would see them go one better than their defeat on home soil two years ago.

Germany are 5/1 (6.0) to bounce back from a shock World Cup exit by returning to winnings ways. Joachim Low will be staying on as coach and Die Mannschaft will be aiming to win the competition for a fifth time in their illustrious footballing history.

Spain are available at 11/2 (6.50) having appointed former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique following a tumultuous summer.

Belgium will contest the World Cup third place play-off with England on Saturday and are also 8/1 (9.0) shots to win Euro 2020.

Reigning champions Portugal are available at 11/1 (12.0) ahead of Italy (14/1) and Netherlands (20/1) who both missed out on a spot in Russia this summer but will hope for a smoother qualification journey this time around.

Croatia may have secured a first ever World Cup final appearance in their history but bet365 aren't expecting a similar performance in two years' time making Zlatko Dalic's side 25/1 (26.0) chances to win the competition.

The tournament will be played across the continent with the final being held in London on July 12. 12 cities will host matches in a special one-off edition of the competition to celebrate the 60th birthday of the European Championships.
