Bet365 Preview: Ghana vs Egypt: Back the Black Stars to avoid defeat

Though the Black stars have failed to qualify for the mundial, they will look to make a statement when they clash with the Pharaohs

Ghana welcome Egypt to the Baba Yara Stadium for their dead rubber World Cup qualification encounter on Sunday evening.

With Kwesi Appiah’s men failing to book a ticket to the global showpiece next year and the Pharaohs already securing their place in Russia, nothing but pride is at stake.

The Black Stars saw their World Cup hopes dashed when they drew with Uganda in a game they ought to have won to stand any chance of wrestling the sole ticket with the Egyptians.

However with Héctor Cúper’s men resting some key players like Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah Bet365 has tagged the Ghanaians as slight favourites for this outing at (2.15).

Both sides have met seven times with one of the meetings ending in a stalemate. The same betting firm has offered odds of (3.10) for them to share the spoils.

For the Pharaohs, they sealed a place in the global tournament for the first time since 1990 after defeating Congo 2-1 in their last qualifier.

Though they have never lost to their hosts in their last three meetings, they will be coming into this duel as underdogs at the price of (3.60) bearing in mind that Cúper will be expected to try some rookies in the tie.

It is worth noting  that Ghana have only lost just once in 13 of their last home matches and (1.29) is on offer for them to avoid defeat at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Their last three meetings with their visitors have produced an average of two goals - meaning few goals will be expected in this clash. Bet365 has priced (1.53) for under 2.5 goals to surface in the engagement while (1.72) is available for both teams NOT to score.
