Barcelona return to action following the international break with a trip to struggling Granada in the Primera Division on Sunday.

Luis Enrique's side are currently two points behind Real Madrid at the top of La Liga and Los Blancos also have a game in hand.

Barca to face Juventus in Champions League quarter-finals

Madrid are at home to Alaves on Sunday afternoon, with Barca in action later on in the evening against Granada as the Catalans continue their pursuit of a third consecutive title under Luis Enrique, who will depart in the summer.

Aleix Vidal is sidelined for the remainder of the season after suffering a horrific ankle injury at Alaves in February, but Jeremy Mathieu is available again after recovering from an ankle problem and could feature on Sunday.

Lionel Messi is suspended after picking up his fifth booking of the season in La Liga prior to the international break, so the Argentine attacker will play no part in the game against Granada on Sunday.

Messi was also banned for Argentina's loss in Bolivia earlier this week after he was hit with a four-match ban by FIFA for insulting the match officials in the win against Chile last Friday.

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique is set to revert to a 4-3-3 formation following the success of 3-4-3 in recent weeks.

'Barca win will haunt PSG for generations'

The Asturian coach switched to 3-4-3 for the 2-1 win at Atletico Madrid in February and the system also worked well as Barca thrashed Paris Saint-Germain 6-1 in the Champions League to advance to the last eight with a historic comeback.

However, with Messi missing through suspension against Granada on Sunday, Barca are expected to switch back to 4-3-3 with Jordi Alba in the team at left-back.

It should be an otherwise strong side from Barca, but Luis Enrique may opt to rotate further ahead of a tough game at home to Sevilla on Wednesday night.

Granada are struggling down in 19th place in La Liga and their hopes of survival in the Primera Division already seem slim.

The Andalusians have lost their last three matches in the league and with just 19 points, they are seven adrift of 17th-placed Leganes with only 10 games left.

Rakitic signs new Barca contract

Moroccan winger Mehdi Carcela-Gonzalez is sidelined after picking up an injury on international duty, but Colombian striker Adrian Ramos is available again after recovering from a muscle problem.

  • Granada have won three of their last four La Liga games at Los Carmenes, but they lost the last one against Atletico in a 1-0 defeat.

  • If Barcelona score a goal in this game, they will have netted in 18 La Liga games away in a row, their best run since September 2013 (32).

  • Neymar, on 99 goals for Barca, can become the third Brazilian player to score 100 for the Catalan club in all competitions (Rivaldo on 100 and Evaristo on 105 are the other two).

  • Luis Enrique (wth six wins and a draw) has never lost against Granada as a coach in La Liga.

  • Luis Suarez has scored four goals in his four meetings with Granada in La Liga. All four came in his two games at Los Carmenes.

Granada versus Barcelona kicks off at 20:45 CET on Sunday and will be shown live in the UK on Sky Sports 1 from 19:30 GMT.
