Bakary Kone scores own goal on Ankaragucu debut

The 30-year-old’s effort in his own net contributed to the Ankara 19 Mayıs Stadium outfit’s defeat against the Yellow-Reds

Bakary Kone scored an own goal on his debut for Ankaragucu as they succumbed 3-1 to Galatasaray in Friday’s Turkish Super Lig clash.

The Burkina Faso international who joined the Ankara 19 Mayıs Stadium outfit  from Malaga in the summer endured a difficult time in his maiden appearance after turning the ball into his own net at the half-hour mark.

Prior to the unlucky incident, Moroccan forward Moestafa El Kabir opened the scoring for İsmail Kartal’s men in the seventh minute before Serdar Aziz levelled proceeding for the Yellow-Reds.

Eren Derdiyok then sealed the victory off a Younes Belhanda assist to hand the league champions a winning start to the new Super Lig campaign.

Nigerian midfielder Olanrewaju Kehinde also made his debut in the tie for the hosts after replacing Youness Mokhtar in the 79th minute while compatriot Henry Onyekuru featured for 84 minutes for the Tyrk Telekom Stadı outfit before making way for Algeria midfielder Sofiane Feghouli.

Kone will be looking to put the setback behind him when Ankaragucu try Alanyaspor for size in their next league game on August 18.
