The defender says he is unwilling to return to national duties with the Black Stars

Ghana defender Abdul Baba Rahman says he feels not prepared enough to join the Black Stars despite recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The 23-year-old spent almost a year off the pitch after sustaining the sprain at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

As a result, he was able to make only one appearance for Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga last season, lasting 33 minutes.

“At this moment, I will say no [I'm not ready to return to the national team]. This is because I need to have some game time at club level before I join,” Rahman was quoted as saying by 442gh.

“You know Ghanaians, everyone seems to know a little about football so whenever you play for Ghana and you make a mistake, you go to social media and you see many people talking about it.

"As a result, it’s a lot of pressure playing for Ghana so I want to be in a good state before returning,” he added.

Rahman boasts of 24 appearances for Ghana since making his debut in 2014.
