Andre 'Dede' Ayew has revealed his ambitions to be present with Ghana at the 2018 Fifa World Cup holding in Russia ahead of the qualifiers against Congo at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Friday.

The Black Stars have had a slow start to the qualifiers in Group E, picking only one point after two games and sitting five points behind leaders Egypt, with four games to be played.

“I’ve been to two World Cup but we’re in a difficult spot at the moment,” Ayew told his club's website.

“We’re in a difficult spot, but hopefully we’re going to make it to the World Cup.

“It’s an important year for us and if we do it, we’ll turn something that was impossible into something possible, so our country would be on fire. We’re going to try to make it happen. We have the belief, we have a great squad and I think we can do it. I’d like to go to my third World Cup. It’s not every player who has the chance to go to even one World Cup, so if I have the opportunity to go to a third one," said Ayew.

He added: "I need to do everything possible to make that happen. We’re going to try to make it happen. We have the belief, we have a great squad and I think we can do it."

The Ayews have joined teammates in Kumasi to begin training ahead of the encounter. Rafael Dwamena has been ruled out of the game after failing his medical at Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion.

In the other group game, Uganda will host Egypt in Namboole.
