Atletico Madrid v Sevilla Betting: Battle of mean defences unlikely to yield goals

The standout fixture in La Liga this weekend takes place at Atletico Madrid's brand new Wanda Metropolitano stadium, where high-flying Sevilla are the visitors.

Both sides are unbeaten this season heading into the game, with the visitors having claimed 13 points from a possible 15, while Atletico have picked up 11 points from their five matches so far.

The Andalusians, however, have not won a league game away to Atletico since 2008 and last season lost this fixture by a 3-1 scoreline, while the previous campaign saw the game end in a 0-0 stalemate.

bet365, who are live streaming the match for UK-based customers, make the visitors clear outsiders - despite their excellent start - and are priced at 19/4 (5.75), while Atletico are offered at 3/5 (1.60) and the draw can be backed at 14/5 (3.80)

The key factor to Sevilla's successful opening to the new campaign has been their defensive solidity, with the side conceding just one goal in their opening five games, and that strike came against Espanyol on the opening weekend.

They were a little fortunate to keep a clean sheet last weekend at Girona where their opponents missed an injury time penalty, but nevertheless Sevilla have been tough to break down.

Atletico, for their part, have long since had the meanest defence in La Liga and they will feel they can keep the visitors' strike-force at bay to record a second clean sheet in their second game in their new home.

Opposing both teams to score at 19/20 (1.95) could hold some interest, but instead the price of 43/40 (2.07) for under 2.5 goals looks far too good to miss.

This bet has paid out in four of Sevilla's five league games this season, while also proving the correct selection in three of Atletico's last four matches in all competitions; backing a low scoring game when Diego Simeone's men are involved is often the shrewdest move and against a side with an excellent defensive record like Sevilla, it makes even more sense.
