Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid: Ignore Ronaldo and Griezmann in favour of Spain international Niguez

Given the talent of their respective forward players it has been something of a surprise to see both Real Madrid and Atletico struggle in front of goal this season.

Both sides have been creating chances yet spurning many more than they would expect, and this is reflected in the goalscoring statistics of their two star forwards; Cristiano Ronaldo has netted just one league goal in seven appearances, while Antoine Griezmann has scored twice in nine league matches, and both men will be hoping to turn around their fortunes on Saturday afternoon.

Ronaldo, of course, boasts a formidable recent record in this fixture and since Diego Simeone took over Los Rojiblancos, the Portuguese forward has scored 17 goals in 23 matches in all competitions, more than any other player.

Last season in this fixture, he netted a hat-trick and Paddy Power offer Ronaldo at 11/10 (2.10) to score in the first ever Madrid derby at the Wanda Metroploitano stadium and at 4/1 (5.00) to net two or more.

Griezmann, for his part, is on his longest ever goalless run for Atletico of seven games, but he can be backed at 7/4 (2.75) to break that barren spell on Saturday night.

Real Madrid's top scorer this season in La Liga is Isco and the 25-year-old survived an injury scare following a bad challenge during Spain's friendly win over Costa Rica last weekend to be fully fit for the game with Atletico.

The former Malaga man is arguably in the most consistent form of his career and netted in Real Madrid's last game against Atletico in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final last season at the Estadio Vicente Calderon; he is offered at 16/5 (4.20) to score once more, while Sergio Ramos - who has netted some important goals in this fixture in the past - is priced at 15/2 (8.50).

For Atletico, the value must surely lie in backing Saul Niguez at 9/2 (5.50) as the midfielder has a habit of scoring on the big occasion.

The Spain international has scored twice in this fixture over the last couple of years, as well as netting against Barcelona this term, and with Griezmann struggling, Saul seems to offer decent value in what is likely to be a low-scoring affair.
