Atletico Madrid v Liverpool Betting: Effervescent Reds capable of unlocking Simeone's side

Liverpool are enjoying an impressive, unbeaten pre-season having won five of their six friendlies and conceded just two goals in the process.

The Reds will aim to take another high-profile scalp in the final of the Audi Cup. Jurgen Klopp's side face Atletico Madrid at the Allianz Arena, and - having beaten Bayern Munich 3-0 on Tuesday - the Anfield outfit's confidence will be high.

They remain outsiders against Atletico, however, with the La Liga side favourites with Sportpesa at 6/4 (2.50) with Liverpool offered at 37/20 (2.85) and the draw available at 9/4 (3.25).

While Liverpool overcame Bayern in their previous game in the tournament, Atletico came from behind to beat Napoli 2-1 with two goals in the last 18 minutes, although the victory was somewhat marred by Diego Godin's sending off for two reckless challenges.

It should be noted that Liverpool are at a much more advanced stage in their preparations for the new season, with this match set to be their seventh of the summer, while Atletico have only contested two - the victory over Napoli and a 0-0 draw with Mexican side Toluca.

The Reds have one more friendly this weekend before the Premier League season kicks off while Atleti are just under three weeks away from their La Liga opener, meaning that perhaps we can expect the Merseysiders to be a little sharper.

Klopp's side are offered at 29/20 (2.45) to score over 1.5 goals and that looks tempting given their recent form.

The Reds have scored two or more goals in each of their last four friendly matches, with this bet comfortably paying out against Bayern Munich. Atletico, of course, remain extremely strong defensively, although against Napoli they relied on the heroics of keeper Jan Oblak to keep the score down.

It is not often that it is advisable to back a team to score two or more against Atletico, but defensively Diego Simeone's men are not yet at their full capacity while Liverpool look strong going forward, making the price quoted extremely appealing.
