Welcome to Goal.com's regular feature: Goal.com World Player of the Week. Each week our worldwide team of editors will put forward a selected candidate, as chosen by Goal.com International, who deserves recognition for achieving something special that matchday. It won't necessarily be the best player in the world - at least not usually - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. It might be for a particularly awesome performance or for something praiseworthy off the pitch - either way, the person in question deserves special attention...

Goal.com World Player of the Week #61: Dmitri Sychev
Club: Lokomotiv Moscow
Country: Russia
Age: 26
Role: Attacker
Castrol Ranking: n/a
Achievement: A timely return to form against Alania

Once the anointed Golden Boy of Russian football, Dmitri Sychev has come under heavy criticism this season for his poor form and lack of goals.

Last week, his side Lokomotiv Moscow became victims of one of the shocks of the round in the Russian Cup.

Modest FK Gornyak Uchaly of the 2. Division downed Yuri Semin's side by a single goal to nil.

This past weekend, in the 13th round of the RPL, it was imperative that the Railroaders returned to form.

At home to strugglers Alania Vladikavkaz, Loko did not disappoint.

On an outstanding day for Sychev, he contributed two goals after previously scoring only one all season long. In truth, the former Olympique Marseille player could have had at least four.

Lokomotiv ran out 3-0 winners, a hugely inspiring result for Sychev and his coach, Yuri Semin.

Goals from Lokomotiv Moscow 3 - Alania Vladikavkaz 0, including Dmitri Sychev's double.

Congratulations to Dmitri, Goal.com's 61st World Player of the Week!
