Argentina vs Mexico Betting Tips: Latest odds, team news, preview and predictions

Mexico will be hoping for an improved showing when they face Argentina in the second of two friendlies against La Albiceleste in the space of five days.

Argentina were 2-0 winners at the weekend thanks to a header from Ramiro Funes Mori and a late own goal, and managed to dominate without necessarily hitting top gear.

El Tri's problems in front of goal continue with the Central Americans having now failed to score in five of their last seven matches. The game in the early hours of Wednesday morning at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas in Mendoza is the final match of 2018 for these two sides and both will be hoping to end a disappointing year on a positive note.

Latest odds

Mexico have lost six of their last seven matches in all competitions and are priced at 13/2 (7.50) for the victory with William Hill. A home win meanwhile is offered at 47/100 (1.47) with the draw available 3/1 (4.00).

Team news

As well as the big names who are missing from the Argentina squad, Nicolas Otamendi's absence through injury could be a big blow, with the side looking a little unstable defensively at the weekend.

Mexico remain without winger Hirving Lozano who pulled out of the squad for both games with a knee problem.

Preview

At the weekend we tipped under 2.5 goals and both teams to score 'no' which provided us with a odds-against winner. However, Mexico should have scored early on, hitting the bar in the second minute before Marco Fabian went clean through on goal only to see his shot saved.

Alan Pulido Mexico Nicolas Tagliafico Argentina

After that Argentina began to dominate and it could have been worse for Mexico had Guillermo Ochoa not pulled off some impressive saves. It is of course difficult to judge either side given neither have a permanent coach, yet Argentina were the better side on Saturday even if they were fortunate to keep a clean sheet.

Tips and predictions

Despite Mexico's unispiring form in front of goal the price of 13/10 (2.30) for both teams to score looks eye-catching. Also worthy of consideration is backing Argentina to win and not keep a clean sheet at 14/5 (3.80).
