The People’s Elephant’s defender has tasked his teammates to suspend the celebration that came with Djoliba victory ahead of CARA fixture

Enyimba’s Ifeanyi Anaemena has warned his teammates to put the celebration that greeted their away win against Djoliba AC of Mali on hold until after their Caf Confederation Cup final group stage tie with CARA Brazzaville .

The People’s Elephant put their quest to qualify for the next round of the Caf Confederation Cup back on track with the 1-0 away win against Djoliba in Bamako through a stoppage-time penalty kick converted by Farouk Mohammed.

The win had elicited wild celebration from Enyimba fans but Anaemena who was rock solid in Bamako pointed out that their next game with CARA Brazzaville is their biggest test now and they must remain focused on the task of beating them.

“We were all happy that we beat Djoliba in Mali but we must know that the job is not yet complete until we beat CARA Brazzaville at home,” he told Goal.

“We need to put the celebration on hold for now. We need maximum concentration because CARA are a tough side and we can’t afford to drop out having laboured this much. We are going to really celebrate it after we might have beaten them at home.

“We know we could take any team on when we are in form and it showed against Djoliba because we have been stretched to the limit. We knew it was either getting a good result in Bamako or preparing for our exit.

“We never gave thought to lose and getting eliminated from the competition. It was hard work along with the determination that gave us the victory. We must be determined in a similar way if we are to beat CARA.”

Enyimba are second in Group C with nine points from five games and they will leapfrog current group leaders, CARA if they win on Wednesday in Aba. The Congolese thrashed the People’s Elephant 3-0 in Brazzaville when the first leg was played.
