Massimiliano Allegri will bring 'something special' to the Premier League if he is appointed as Arsenal's new boss, Southampton's Mario Lemina has said.
Arsene Wenger is set to move on from the Emirates at the end of the season and Allegri's is a name which features often in the list of possible replacements, alongside a handful of others.
Big names such as former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, Carlo Ancelotti and even Jurgen Klopp's right hand man Zeljko Buvac have also been touted, but Lemina, who played under Allegri for two seasons at Juventus, feels the Italian boss is on par with managerial greats such as Pep Guardiola and Antonio Conte.
“He would bring something special to the Premier League like Pep Guardiola did [at Manchester City] and Antonio Conte did [at Chelsea] as well,” the midfielder told Sky Sports.
“Because he is Italian he will give something special because he is more tactical. I think he would be very good for Arsenal if he goes.”
All eyes will be on the Gunners on Thursday evening as they seek to turn around their Europa League fortunes against Atletico in Madrid after settling for a 1-1 draw at home, with the onus on the players to give Wenger a deserving send-off.
Then, on Sunday, the French boss, who has been at the helm of the Premier League side for 22 years, will walk his players out for the last time at the Emirates as Arsenal host Europe-chasing Burnley.
