Alexis Kitenge set for AFC Leopards debut in GOtv Shield

AFC Leopards new signing, Alexis Kitenge is most likely to start from the bench when Ingwe takes on National Super League side, Nairobi Stima in a GOtv Shield round of 32 match on Saturday.

The Burundian moved to the Den about almost a week ago, but could not get playing time in Leopard’s defeat to Kariobangi Sharks in a Kenyan Premier League match despite making the trip to Nakuru, just a day after he arrived in Kenya.

Goal understands, Kitenge’s big day is most likely to come in Mumias on Saturday where he is set to make his maiden debut. “We have traveled with him (to Mumias), but I can't tell whether he will play, though he stands a chance of featuring,” AFC Leopards stand-in coach, Tom Juma told Goal from Mumias.

“I am trying out a different formation with the team, so it will have to wait and see how things plays out, but he is in the squad,” added Juma, who will drop to the assistant role from next week following the arrival of coach Robert Matano from Bidco United.

Ingwe progressed to the round of 32 in an emphatic style, following a 15-1 demolition of little known Dero FC, two weeks ago and a goal or two from the Burundian in Mumias, will budge him a cult status with club fans, desperately waiting for something to smile about.
