AFC Bournemouth v Brighton & Hove Albion Betting: Carabao Cup rematch to see goals again

These two teams shared three goals on Friday night and our tipster expects the goals to flow again when they meet in the League Cup on Tuesday night

Jermain Defoe scored the winning goal as AFC Bournemouth came from behind to claim their first win of the Premier League season against Brighton and Hove Albion at Vitality Stadium on Friday night.

The two teams meet again – at the same venue – on Tuesday night and Eddie Howe’s charges will have designs on doubling their delight against the Seagulls; on this occasion, it is a place in the fourth round of the League Cup that will be the reward for the winners.

Bournemouth have been beaten in their last two tussles against fellow top-flight opposition in this competition, but Howe’s men will have been lifted by their win against Chris Hughton’s charges and Betsafe go 99/100 (1.99) that history repeats itself here.

Brighton have reached the fourth round of the League Cup just once since 1980, but the Seagulls will be aiming to consign that particular statistic to the history books when they travel to take on the Cherries; Hughton’s team are chalked up as a 11/4 (3.75) chance to claim victory against Bournemouth, while the same firm go 13/5 (3.60) that extra time is required to separate these Premier League rivals.

There have been at least three goals scored in eight of Bournemouth’s last 10 League Cup ties and BetSafe go 49/50 (1.98) that the trend continues against the Seagulls, while the odds compilers offer 39/50 (1.78) that there are goals at both ends – a selection that would have seen punters profit from three of the last four fixtures that the Cherries have fulfilled in all competitions.

The home side have been the dominant force in this fixture in recent years; Eddie Howe’s men extended their unbeaten run against the Seagulls to seven matches as goals from Jordon Ibe and Jermain Defoe cancelled out Solly March’s opener for Chris Hughton’s men in Friday's Premier League meeting between these teams.

The League Cup, in all likelihood, ranks lowly on the list of priorities for both managers and, so, it would be no real surprise should both Howe and Hughton opt to shuffle their respective packs for this third round tie.

BetSafe offer 7/4 (2.75) that these two teams start slowly and that the first half ends goalless, while the same firm go 111/100 (2.11) that most of the scoring comes after the break – both selections would have seen punters pile up profit from Friday’s fixture.

Better value, though, may well lie in backing an entertaining League Cup clash and, as such, it is Betsafe’s 49/50 (1.98) quote for more than two goals to be scored that may provide punters with a path to profit.
