SL Benfica have officially announced the signing of Nicolas Gaitan from Boca Juniors for a fee of €8.4 million.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder, who had been linked with a move to the Estadio da Luz for over a week, will pen a five-year contract with the club upon passing a medical, according to the Portuguese outfit's official website.
Gaitan, who has three caps for Argentina, has now become Benfica's third signing for next season, following in the footsteps of Fabio Faria and Franco Jara from Rio Ave and Arsenal de Sarandi, respectively.
Benfica are currently three points clear at the top of Liga Sagres following yesterday's 3-1 defeat at Porto, and require just one point in the last round to become champions.
