Flores Disappointed At Balboa's Benfica Input

Benfica's boss Quique Flores expected more of an impact from the African who left the Bernabéu for Lisbon last summer...
Benfica coach Quique Flores has restated his disappointment over Javier Ángel Balboa's contribution to the club.

The Equatorial Guinea international joined Benfica from Real Madrid in the summer in a €4 million move but has failed to impress at the Estádio da Luz.

Balboa has been handed a peripheral role at the Lisbon-based club and his substitute performances haven't convinced the fans - who have been heavily critical of the 23-year-old.

And Flores, who recently admitted that the ex-Real man would have to up his form to be at the same level as the rest of his colleagues, has now indicated he was hoping for a bigger impact from his signing.

"I expected more from the player but it is not too late," he told Terra.

Meanwhile, the former Valencia boss has conceded that he believes he will return to the Spanish league and that a such scenario could become reality "at any moment of any season."
