thumbnail Hello,

The Italian boss was satisfied with the cup win over the fifth division side, but has criticised his back line as he feels there is still room for improvement

Paris Saint-Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti feels that his side's defence still has the potential to be better after they conceded far more goals than they would have expected against their fifth-tier opponents.

The French giants, however, came out victorious with a 4-3 win over Arras in the Coupe de France on Sunday, and although feeling relieved about the result, he believes his back line needs to up their game.

"It was real cup match and they're never easy," the 53-year-old told reporters after the match.

"We started the match well but afterwards we allowed Arras opportunities. We played well, but we were not good defensively.

"We hadn't conceded in our last four matches and maybe we thought it would be too easy. That said, we won and so everything's good."

Midfielder Blaise Matuidi shared the same view with his trainer, also expressing his happiness about moving on in the competition.

"We are satisfied," he said. "We wanted to qualify in another way, but we see that there are surprises in the Coupe de France, so it was necessary to avoid the trap, even if we conceded three goals.

"We are happy to be qualified because that was the objective."
