Saint-Etienne have completed the transfer of shot-stopper Stephane Ruffier from Monaco for an undisclosed fee, with the France international penning a four-year deal with his new club.

The Ligue 1 side were in the market for a new goalkeeper to fight it out with current first-choice Jeremie Janot for the place between the sticks.

The 24-year-old is a product of Monaco's youth academy and made well over 100 appearances for the former French champions, but craved a move to a bigger club following the Stade Louis II side's relegation to Ligue 2.

Ruffier has been capped once for France's national side and is hopeful of being included in the squad for Euro 2012 as third choice goalkeeper behind Lyon's Hugo Lloris and Marseille's Steve Mandanda.

Saint-Etienne have also secured the services of Braga's Paulao and Sporting Lisbon's Florent Sinama-Pongolle this summer.
