Official: Valenciennes appoint Daniel Sanchez as coach

Former Bordeaux assistant boss will now be in charge of the French first division side following the departure of Philippe Montanier

Valenciennes have appointed Daniel Sanchez as their new coach for the 2011-12 campaign.

Sanchez will replace Philippe Montanier in the Valenciennes hotseat as he is set to join Spanish Primera Division club Real Sociedad.

Sanchez, 57, had been in charge of French second division club Tours since 2007 and led them to a 12th-placed finish in Ligue 2 in the recently concluded 2010-11 campaign. Valenciennes too ended in the same spot in the top flight last season.

Sanchez is an experienced tactician, having served as assistant coach at Saint-Etienne and Bordeaux in France. The former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder also managed Japanese club Nagoya Grampus Eight in 1998-99.
