Lorient have announced via their official website that they expect to complete the capture of Lynel Kitambala from fellow Ligue 1 side Auxerre on Friday.
Some significant European clubs had been credited with an interest in the France Under-21 international, with Sevilla the most notable suitors, though they never made a concrete bid for the forward, who will instead join les Merlus.
Lively striker Kitambala spent the duration of last season on loan at Dijon in Ligue 2, where he scored a commendable 13 times. Such form was carried into the summer’s Toulon Tournament, where the 21-year-old made a very positive contribution to France’s efforts, including scoring a wonderful bicycle kick.
Kitambala will be presented before the press at 17:00 CET to confirm the finalisation of his deal and to answer questions. He will pen a four-year contract with the Breton club, who are presently lacking in offensive options and could use his energy.
