Arsenal End Interest In Girondins de Bordeaux Striker Marouane Chamakh – Report

Arsenal are understood to have ended their interest in Girondins de Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh, following a long summer of chasing the frontman.

The Moroccan international has persistently pushed for a move to England this summer, with north London being his preferred destination.

Chamakh went as far as to suggest he was losing sleep as speculation surrounding his exit from Bordeaux continued, stating that he would not be able to perform at his best for the club.

Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is thought to have made an offer for the player that was considered unsatisfactory by the French champions, and has opted out of improving the bid, according to The Daily Mirror.

West Ham United and Fulham have now emerged as possible suitors for Chamakh, as both are clubs in need of strikers for the new Premier League campaign.

Hammers manager Gianfranco Zola is keen to bring in at least two new forwards, as he has only England international Carlton Cole currently at his disposal.

The UK tabloid also suggests Fulham could also be set to offer Diomansy Kamara as part of a swap deal. Bordeaux have been linked with a move for the striker in the recent past.

However, according to The Daily Mail, the Hammers are favourites to sign Chamakh as they are willing to bid €5 million, but will include a 50 per cent sell-on clause, meaning that les Girondins will get half of whatever the player's next fee is.
