Wolves Agree Fee With Hamilton Academical For James McCarthy

The midfielder is on his way south, it seems...
James McCarthy, the highly-rated Hamilton Academical midfielder whose decision to represent the Republic of Ireland rather than his native Scotland caused some controversy in recent years, has today moved a step closer to a transfer to Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to Sky Sports News.

A fee of £1.5 million has apparently been agreed between the two clubs for the player, who was reportedly piquing the interest of a host of clubs, including Celtic, Portsmouth and Burnley.

The player was thought to be in England today to hold talks over personal terms, with the switch expected to be confirmed very soon.

Wolves have enjoyed a busy summer transfer window, and the capture of McCarthy would represent a significant coup for his manager at Molineux, his namesake Mick McCarthy.
