In light of reported interest from Atletico Mineiro, the defender has dismissed talk of an exit from the Etihad Stadium, instead eyeing a return to Brazil's international foldManchester City defender Maicon has firmly rejected talk he is looking to leave the Premier League club in the summer.
The Brazilian joined Roberto Mancini’s side from Inter last summer but has managed just 11 top-flight appearances due to the impressive from of fellow right-back Pablo Zabaleta and a number of niggling injuries.
Atletico Mineiro were reportedly interested in a summer move for Maicon, but the 31-year-old has underlined his determination to succeed in England and force his way back into contention for Brazil.
"I can completely guarantee you that I'll not leave," Maicon told Lancenet. "I'm calm and I don't care about what they wrote about me.
"My only objective is to help the team and don't have any more injuries, as my goal is to return to the national team.
"I didn't have one of my best seasons, I had physical problems that prevented me from playing all the games as I used to. It was a complicated season, but I recovered in the last part of the season and I'm prepared to help the team."
