Arsenal have made an enquiry for Chelsea midfielder Yossi Benyoun, according to reports.
The Israel international has failed to cement a place in the Chelsea first team since joining from Liverpool last summer, and it appears that Andre Villas-Boas is prepared to let the former West Ham playmaker leave Stamford Bridge following the acquisition of Juan Mata.
Having already handed the newly signed Spaniard his No.10 shirt, Benayoun released a Tweet on Monday afternoon confirming that he was set to leave the club.
"אני במשא ומתן עם כמה קבוצות...חדשות בקרוב [Hebrew] negotiating with several team[s]...news soon...” Benayoun tweeted.
Now it appears that the Israeli could be set for a move to another London outfit, with Sky Sports reporting the Emirates outfit have enquired about his availability.
Following the departures of captain Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will be looking to add a playmaker to his ranks, and Sunday’s 8-2 thrashing at Manchester United may have encouraged the Frenchman to move for Benayoun, a player already accustomed to the Premier League.
