Manchester City's Shaun Wright-Phillips set to begin talks with QPR - agent

Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips is set to open talks with Premier League new-boys Queens Park Rangers, plus two other unnamed sides.

The former Chelsea man has been linked with a move away from the Etihad stadium all summer with Stoke, Bolton and QPR all understood to be interested, however it appears last season's Championship winners have stolen a march on their rivals.

The player’s agent confirmed that QPR have had a bid accepted for the City youth-product, however two other teams have also had bids approved by the Etihad outfit.

Speaking to Press Association Sport, Wright-Phillips’ agent Wayne Lindsay said: "There have been three bids accepted, one from QPR, and at some point he will be speaking to all those clubs."

The winger’s current manager, Roberto Mancini, has praised the 29 year-old’s attitude saying that he always works hard, but he understands if the player wants to move on.

Mancini said: "Shaun is a fantastic guy. But for him it is difficult that he can't play every game.

"If he wants to stay he can stay because he always works very well and is an important person in the dressing room. But I understand it is not easy for him not to play every game."
