Liverpool Striker Luis Suarez Hopes To Ruin Manchester United’s Title Bid

Luis Suarez may only have been at Liverpool for five weeks, but the new signing already knows the importance of beating Manchester United in what is one of the most fiercely contested derbies in football.

Liverpool face Manchester United tomorrow aiming to throw a spanner into the works of United’s title bid as the Red Devils bid to surpass their arch-rivals' record of 18 English top-flight titles.

“I know how important this game is and how important it is that United don't win the title because of the rivalry between the teams," Suarez told reporters.

"We have the same amount of titles and they are our competition. It would be a prize for us to stop them winning the league.

"To score in a game like this and help the team to win is something that as a player you always dream of. But for me, my main objective is that the team keep on getting points. It's not as important who scores."

Suarez says he has spoken to Urugyauan strike partner Diego Forlan ahead of the game: “I've spoken to him and he's told me that it is the most important game of the year for them as it is for us.

“I know that of all the games in the season, this is the one that both most want to win.

"I have played a lot of big derbies in Holland, Uruguay and for the national team against Argentina and Brazil, so I am calm."
