Carlo Ancelotti's Chelsea side will once more be without Frank Lampard this weekend but French winger Florent Malouda could make a return from a twisted ankle, having trained on Friday morning.
The French international will, therefore, battle with Salomon Kalou for a place in the Chelsea starting XI on Sunday.
"I can give to you nine men," Ancelotti told the gathered press, when asked about his starting line-up for Sunday's match.
"Petr Cech, Branislav Ivanovic, Alex, John Terry, Ashley Cole, John Obi Mikel, Yuri Zhirkov, Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba. [As well as] Florent Malouda or Salomon Kalou and Michael Essien or Ramires."
Ancelotti also ran through the injury problems that his side face coming into the game with Roy Hodgson's men.
The Chelsea manager indicated injury problems with both Michael Essien and Frank Lampard, although the Italian told reporters that Florent Malouda would be fit to fact Liverpool on Sunday.
"We have a little problem with Essien, we are not sure he will be fit Sunday, he has a problem on his toe,' the Italian explained.
"It is a little problem but I hope he will be available to play. I think he will travel for Liverpool and we will take a decision Sunday morning.
"Malouda is available to play, he recovered very well, and the other players are okay."
However, the match against Roy Hodgson's side has come too soon for Frank Lampard.
"He is not available for this game, we have to take time again,' continued Ancelotti.
"Next week finally he will be ready.
"Now he moved on and started to train, we've taken time to put him 100 percent fit, it was not an easy problem, this is the only reason. We don't want to take a risk.
"I hope he will be ready against Sunderland."
