Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher are reportedly fighting to save Roy Hodgson's Liverpool career after their team-mates expressed doubts over his ability to lead to Reds away from relegation, according to The Daily Mail.
Fernando Torres and Pepe Reina are said to be two of the dissenting voices in the Liverpool dressing room, but Gerrard and Carragher believe Hodgson should be given more time.
Liverpool currently sit 19th in the Premier League, but will drop to bottom should West Ham take anything from their game with Newcastle on Saturday.
Liverpool don't play until Sunday, when they take on Blackburn at Anfield.
It is reported that although Gerrard and Carragher are also concerned about the position of the club, they have have told their team-mates to at least give Hodgson until Christmas to turn Liverpool around.
Hodgson came out fighting at his press conference on Friday, and laughed off claims that he'd fallen out with Torres.
It's sad really that we should have to put up with things like this,' he said.
“People write the most ridiculous things, like I'm having fights with Fernando Torres. Just ridiculous.
“Someone told me yesterday that they had me falling out with the rest of my staff, and then they had me resigning. I wouldn't take it too seriously, if I were you, I really wouldn't.
"The dressing-room, staff, everyone around the place is 100 per cent solid behind what we are trying to do.”
