Arsenal Legend Kenny Sansom: Manchester City's Joe Hart Is The Answer To The Club's Goalkeeping Problem

Arsenal legend Kenny Sansom has urged Arsene Wenger to resolve his goalkeeping crisis by making a swoop for Manchester City's Joe Hart.

Hart, 23, has returned to Eastlands this summer after an impressive campaign with Birmingham City last season. Hotly tipped to make the breakthrough to become England's first choice, he has expressed his desire to move away again if his path to the City goal is blocked by Shay Given.

Gunners boss Wenger has already warned Manuel Almunia he has to fight for his starting spot next term, with Lukasz Fabianski hoping to get over his own poor performances last term to grab the No.1 shirt.

But speaking to Sky Sports News, Sansom - who made 314 First Division appearances for the club in the 1980s - advised the Frenchman to bring in Hart on a loan or permanent deal.

"Joe Hart is the man for me. If he's not going to start for Manchester City, I'd be on to [manager] Roberto Mancini and ask is he interested in selling him?" Sansom said.

"He's a good, young, bright goalkeeper. I think he's great for the future and is a future, regular England goalkeeper.

"Joe Hart would be a fantastic signing."
