Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger Looking To Sign Everton's Mikel Arteta Should Cesc Fabregas Move To Barcelona - Report

The Gunners' boss lines up a possible replacement...

Arsene Wenger has lined up Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta as a replacement for Cesc Fabregas should Barcelona sign the Arsenal captain this summer.

The Frenchman certain that he can keep Fabregas but should the Catalan giants make an offer that the Spanish international cannot refuse then Wenger would like to have a Premier League veteran lined up to replace him, according to the Daily Mail.

Arteta returned from knee ligament damage and impressed Arsenal scouts with some fine performances for Everton this season.

Everton would probably not be willing to sell Arteta this summer and are looking to discuss extending the Spaniard’s current deal, which ends in 2012.

Arteta scored six goals in 13 appearances for Everton this season, but the midfielder is a fan favourite at Goodison Park and the Toffees want to keep their squad intact for another run at European football next year.
