Tottenham Hotspur's Gareth Bale Named Premier League Player Of The Month For April

Marauding Tottenham Hotspur and Wales left-back Gareth Bale has been awarded the Barclays Player of the Month award for April, the first Welshman to win the award since Ryan Giggs in February 2007.

The 20-year-old has been in terrific form for Spurs, and April was perhaps his most productive period for the club.

Signed from Southampton in 2007, it has taken Bale a while to settle at White Hart Lane, however recent performances have seen him propel himself to the forefront of many people’s minds when talking about the best left-sided players in the Premier League.

A terrific April has seen Bale score goals in home victories against both Arsenal and Chelsea, his first goals of the season, and his pace and athleticism have been key components in his good form, form which has lead to newspaper reports of possible bids in the summer from the likes of Manchester United to secure his services.

The decision was made by the Barclays Awards Panel, which includes representatives from football’s governing bodies, the media and fans.
