Middlesbrough misfit Afonso Alves, who scored 13 goals from 47 appearances in all competitions during his stay at the Riverside Stadium, has joined Qatari outfit Al-Sadd for a fee of £7 million.
The Brazilian has penned a three-year deal, and follows Aston Villa recruit Stewart Downing, and Stoke City's summer signings Robert Huth and Sanli Tuncay out of the 'Boro exit door.
Alves could not save Middlesbrough from dropping into England's second tier - the Championship, and scored just four times in 31 Premier League games last term.
The 28-year-old is looking to re-establish his career in the Middle East and is relishing the prospect of representing the Doha-based club.
"I am aiming to be at my top level here and score many goals," he said.
