Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has lavished praise on star midfielder Luka Modric ahead of tonight's meeting with Hull City.
Modric put in an all-action performance at White Hart Lane on Sunday to help secure Spurs' opening day win against Liverpool.
Redknapp has been delighted with the Croatian, and is not the only one admiring the creative player's talents.
“Modric has proved to Tottenham fans what a fantastic footballer he is," said Redknapp, according to The Daily Mirror.
“[Manchester United manager] Sir Alex Ferguson told me he could play in any team because he’s so good. The pass he played with the outside of his boot to set up a chance for Robbie Keane against Liverpool on Sunday was different class.
“Slaven [Bilic, Croatia coach] would tell me that, in today’s football, Modric is a world-class player - and he’s right. If he’s good enough for 'Fergie', he’ll do for me."
Redknapp also drew comparisons between Modric and another player he had in his ranks at previous clubs.
He continued, “When I first came to Tottenham, he reminded me of Eyal Berkovic, who was a terrific little player I had at West Ham [United] and Portsmouth.
"But this little fella is strong as well, he’s a powerful lad.
“Modric can head the ball, he tackles hard and he’s got a big heart. He’s a great all-round player and we’re seeing the best of him now."
