Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp, whose side have been heavily linked with the player in recent weeks, has conceded that he is surprised by the fact that Spurs' north London rivals have been linked with former star Patrick Vieira.
"It's surprising but I had heard nothing about it," Rdknapp acknowledged, speaking to The Sun.
But the Spurs boss also confirmed the 33 year-old still has what it takes to succeed at the highest level, adding, "I'm sure he'll be a good signing for whoever gets him.
"He belonged to Arsenal. He was fantastic there so if an opportunity to go back came along, I'm sure he would take it."
Vieira enjoyed a trophy-laden spell with the Gunners and would be welcomed back by most of the support. Former player Ian Wright has already indicated his excitement at a possible second coming of the French international.
